outrage As Mob Parade Women Naked, Gang Rape, Play With Private Parts In Manipur..... Daily Brutality

Outrage on Social media as two women belonging to the Christian Kuki community were paraded naked, groped, and gang-raped in a broad daylight on the streets of Manipur, India. Adding to the atrocity, the perpetrators recorded the entire ordeal on their mobile phones.

The women were trying to escape a mob that had attacked their house in village and killed their father.

Their 19 year old brother was lynched and killed by the mob while trying to save the modesty of his sisters from mob.

The assailants not only gangraped the women, they were stripped naked and their private parts were being played while marching through the roads, openly in broad daylight.

The video went viral on social media platforms, triggering widespread outrage and condemnation from netizens.

Citizens expressed their helplessness and frustrations, lambasting the government for failing to do justice.

The incident, which took place in May, a day when the “riots” started, highlights the alarming situation in India’s Manipur and urgency to control the law and order.

Many expressed concerns over the fact that the perpetrators are still at large, roaming freely and potentially emboldened by the lack of consequences for their actions.

So angry watching the video of 2 Kuki women in #Manipur. This incident happened in May, no arrests. Which means these men are walking around, free, nonchalant, emboldened. Whom does the internet crackdown enable? What else is happening in #manipur that’s hidden from the public?”

 Tweeted Journalist, Sarah Jacob.

“Be ashamed of🙏 Where is the media of my country gone, which used to give news of Taliban whole day that Taliban is torturing women in this way, today such incidents are happening in our country but they have closed their eyes in our country.🙏💔 #ManipurViolence #Manipur,” Tweeted an IAS officer.

An ethnic clash erupted on 3 May 2023 in Manipur between the Meitei people, a majority that lives in the Imphal Valley, and the tribal community from the surrounding hills, particularly the Kuki tribe after a high court order on the inclusion of Meites ST status.

The violence began after a solidarity march held by tribal groups against the demand to grant Scheduled Tribe status to the Meitei community.

142 people have been killed in the violence, 17 missing and more than 300 others injured, as per official data.
